Taking a long break from the healthcare career she has known all of her adult life, Robyn is stretching her creative wings into new styles. She creates textural, colorful, contrasting works which involve random mark-making as well as a mixture of different mediums such as India ink, acrylic paint and oil pastels.
Danksy, a moniker given to her by co-workers, creates from a place of child-like abandon, unwilling to conform to societal norms, producing works based on inspiration and dreams.
While not a formally trained artist, she has created since able to touch fingers to substrate. The breadth of her interests includes photography, painting, graphic art, sculpture, pencil, ink drawing, and ceramics. The loss of her Mother in late 2014 pressed her back to devoting more time to her passion for creating art.
Danksy was born abroad to an English teacher and British-born commercial artist. When not working or creating art, she enjoys travel within the USA but all over the world, as well. She also has a passion for diverse music styles and travels to catch her favorite musicians perform live. Robyn currently lives in Wichita, Kansas.
DANKSY ART STATEMENT
I’m learning every time I step foot in the studio. Took a huge leap of faith very recently and entered the world of creating art full time. It’s simulatenously terrifying & exhilarating. Mostly it’s terrifying buying supplies and exciting using them. Thanks for joining me on this journey.
